Otter Point | Otter Point Lookout | Otter Point State Recreation Site | Hiking Otter Point

On the way out of Gold Beach we hit up a local favorite Otter Point. There are two popular hiking trails located here..one takes you down to the beach while the other takes you out onto the rock formations above!

It is rather easy to miss this amazing hike if you didn’t know it existed. When you’re leaving Gold Beach right after you pass over the Rogue River Bridge you want to take the road to the left which with wind around and eventually you’ll see signs for Otter Point.(The road goes back out to Hwy 101. So if you end up back on the highway, you missed the turn off.) There you can park your car and head to the trailhead From the trailhead you can pick your trail. The trail to your left goes to the beach and the one that goes straight is to the rock and look out. They are both easy hikes under a mile or and back.

Here is a link to better help you navigate.

After playing on the beach for a bit and appreciating the outstanding scenery we headef back out on the road to stop at Prehistoric Gardens and Rainforest in Port Orford to take some funny picks and visit the gift shop. This popular roadside attraction has been around since 1955 and has life size statues of prehistoric creatures and dinosaurs. This would be a great place to take kids to let them run around and tire them out on a road trip.

See you tomorrow. Adventure awaits!
